As more and more Japanese Animation is broadcast in America, libraries are seeing a need to understand the phenomenon, develop acquisition plans and extend reference services to the growing population of fans. This paper is designed to serve two roles that answer the reference services need. The first role is an introduction to Japanese Animation Fans and an analysis of their information needs. The second role is a list of reference materials with explanations of how they fill the needs specified in the first section. The end goal is to provide a reference model that can be a guide to librarians.
